Glen Namundja
Glen Namundja comes from a long line of gifted indigenous artists. His father was Peter Maralwanga and his brothers were taught as young men by their father and grew up together at Markolidjban outstation near the Liverpool River in Western Arnhem Land.
Glen Namundja is a passionate painter who draws on his extensive cultural knowledge as the inspiration for his work.
His paintings are both intriguing and compelling, a quality which is enhanced by breathtaking technical skill and a level of artistry which is becoming increasingly rare. He belongs to a core group of dedicated painters who work at Injalak Arts and Crafts Association daily. His first solo exhibition in 2008, was recognized immediately for its exceptional quality and was a sell out show.
In 2009 Glen's Lillanaya and Marrayka, was awarded the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award in the Works on Paper category.
